Abstract
We show that sterile neutrinos with rest masses ~0.2 GeV could engineer both an augmentation of core collapse supernova shock energies and, through Accretion-Induced-Collapse (AIC) scenarios, an explanation of the observed population of positrons in the Galactic center. If such neutrinos exist, we predict that an AIC supernova occurring at cosmological distances will produce a detectable short gamma-ray burst with energy up to 10^53 erg. The relevant range of sterile neutrino masses and mixing angles can be probed in future laboratory experiments.Bibtex entry for this abstract Preferred format for this abstract (see Preferences)
